Common questions
The colors all look the same to me
At Hard and Very Hard, that's the point - every option is deliberately within a few degrees of hue and a few points of saturation and lightness of the real one. Try Easy or Medium first, and turn on Show color values in Settings to see the exact RGB/HSL numbers under each option while you learn.
How does scoring work?
Each correct pick adds to your score; each miss subtracts an amount that scales with how many colors were on screen (fewer options means a bigger penalty, since guessing right by chance was easier). Your final score is then normalized to the number of rounds you chose, so games of different lengths stay comparable.
What do the color names mean?
After you answer, the color you were shown is matched against a database of about 32,000 named colors and given a name - anything from "Sour Apple Candy" to "Vampire Red". It's just for fun; it has no effect on scoring.
How do I change the language?
ColorMem starts in your device's language automatically, when it is one of the six supported languages. You can switch it anytime from the language menu inside the app.
Which languages are supported?
English, German, French, Dutch, Italian and Turkish - the full interface, including settings and the rules.
Can I turn off the sounds or vibration?
Yes - both are toggled independently in Settings. Vibration only works when your device supports it.
What does the app need to run?
An iPhone or iPad with iOS 15 or later. No internet connection is needed - the game runs fully offline.
Are there ads or extra purchases?
No. You buy the app once. There is no advertising, no subscription and nothing locked behind an in-app purchase.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. There is no chat, no user-generated content, no advertising and no link to strangers.
I would like a refund
Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Use reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account you used to buy the app.
Reporting a problem
The more of this you can include, the faster it gets fixed:
- what you were doing when it happened - which settings, which round
- device model and iOS version
- the app version, and the language you were using
- a screenshot, if the problem is something you can see
Privacy
The app collects no personal data at all. Settings and scores stay on your device. The full text is in the privacy policy.
Open source
ColorMem uses one open source dataset for color naming. See the open source notices.
Who is behind this
ColorMem is made and supported by GER IT Consultancy, a sole proprietorship registered in the Netherlands, and is part of the Neuron Burst family of apps.
